On stage in the middle of a packed multi-lingual, multi-ethnic, multi-national assembly, Bruce Kuhn brought God's heart to us from Isaiah 43:9-21. "Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel" (verse 14) he quoted in gentle, soft-spoken tones with outstretched, inviting hands. Bruce's dramatic recitation underscored the fact that God's word to Isaiah applies to us today and particularly to this Urbana convention.

"But I tell you, look around you, and see how the fields are ripe for harvesting." - John 4:35
With focus and humor, Jess Delegencia brought alive Jesus' interaction with the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42. "My food is to do the will of him who sent me," he quoted Jesus (verse 34), and from among the hushed and expectantly listening crowd, someone cried out, "Praise the Lord!" "See how the fields are ripe for harvesting," he told us (verse 35), as with a sweeping gesture he extended his arm over the crowd. The enactment was a fitting beginning for a convention that will focus on God's heart for worldwide mission.
