For almost 2000 years now, followers of Jesus have been forming prayer partnerships across cities and continents so that God's grace and blessing can bring hope to the needy and the Good News about His Son to those who don't yet know him.
We invite you to join us in praying for Urbana 03, InterVarsity’s 20th Student Mission Convention. The Urbana team is assembled and preparations are underway for the event which will take place December 27-31, 2003. As we look ahead, we are committing all our plans to God and praying God would use this convention for His glory and His Kingdom.
"The Lord is king; let the peoples tremble! He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake! The Lord is great in Zion; he is exalted over all the peoples. Let them praise your great and awesome name. Holy is he! Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob. Extol the Lord our God; worship at his footstool. Holy is he!" - Psalm 99:1-5
Join the Urbana 03 team in exalting God as King and praying for Convention delegates as we draw nearer to our time together.
- Praise God for the 16,000 people who have registered for Urbana 03! We still have room for 4,000 more delegates. Pray that God would continue to draw this generation into His mission, particularly those from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Pray with us for 1,000 African American students, 700 Latino students and 300 Native American students to attend at Urbana.
- Give praise to God the King. Give thanks for the ways He has led the Urbana team in all of their preparations for the Convention up to now. Pray for God’s wisdom and peace for the Leadership team and the Operations team as they make crucial convention decisions this month. Pray for these men and women as they consecrate themselves and prepare spiritually for the Convention as well.
- Praise God for the formation of the staff who will lead on the Urbana 03 worship and theatre teams. Last month both of these teams met for their final pre-Convention rehearsals and God’s work among them preparing them artistically and spiritually is beautifully evident. Pray for their continued preparation and for God’s strength as they minister with students on campuses around the U.S. and Canada. Pray for the Kingdom of God to advance in the lives of students.
- Honor the King as He calls His children to Urbana 03. Praise Him for those thousands who are already registered and “on their way.” Ask Him to call students together from all the nations of North America. Pray for His authority and provision to make the way clear for students who want to come to Urbana. Pray for each delegate’s preparation for Urbana this month- for their eyes, ears and hearts to be opened and for their single-hearted devotion to the King.
