Greg Jao,
Urbana Announcements

Divisional Director
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, Chicago

Greg was born in Chicago, Illinois. He has been involved with InterVarsity for over seven years. He graduated from the University of Chicago, with a B.A. in English, and he graduated from Northwestern School of Law. Greg currently serves with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as a Divisional Director for Northern Illinois/Northwest Indiana and as its Associate General Counsel.

A second generation Chinese American, Greg is an accomplished writer. Greg is a contributing author to Following Jesus without Dishonoring Your Parents, Voices of Conflict, and Voices of Hope.

In his free time, he enjoys music (Celtic, Broadway, contemporary bluegrass/folk, and much more!). He enjoys reading a mix of literature, from theology to science fiction. He is also a character in the Star Trek novel, The Kobayashi Maru.

Greg’s interest in missions comes from several areas of experience:

  • His thankfulness for how missionaries have reached out to his family and people to touch lives and directly influence his future.
  • His experiences on Global Projects, from a direct look at the Bible through the eyes of God’s global mission.
  • His growing sense of commitment to the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), a movement that functions to reach students worldwide.

Greg has attended the past three Urbanas, playing the role of seminar speaker in each. At Urbana 03, he will be giving announcements.

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and truth."

John 4:23,24 (NIV)
