Area Director
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA in Long Beach, California

John Teter was born in Hacienda Heights, California, the son of Korean and Dutch parents. He studied for two years at Mount San Antonio Junior College and then transferred to UCLA. He graduated with a B.A. in English Literature.

While at UCLA, Jesus captured John’s heart and life through the evangelism ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He has been on staff with InterVarsity for seven years. He is a Bible expositor, evangelistic preacher and author.

John is the director of More Than Conquerors, a new InterVarsity Christian Fellowship multi-ethnic ministry at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Compton Community College. He also serves as the Director of Evangelism for IVCF Los Angeles, where he encourages, trains and releases young adults into post-modern evangelism.

His involvement with evangelism has led him to pursue his passion for writing. He is the author of two books, Get the Word Out and Jesus & The Hip-Hop Prophets, which he co-authored with Alex Gee. Both books will be released this fall.

John and his wife, Becky, also a campus minister with InterVarsity, live in Long Beach, CA. In his spare time, John enjoys swimming, water color art and cheering on the L.A. Lakers.

"Peter said to him, "We have left everything to follow you!" "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—and with them, persecutions) and in the age to come, eternal life." "

Mark 10:28-30 (NIV)
