You Have a Calling
It matters what you do with your life. How can you as an international student or scholar serve Jesus Christ as Lord? Around the world, new doors are opening for the Gospel - and your background, language abilities and education strategically position you to be part of what God is doing - changing individual lives, communities and even whole countries!
The International Students Track at Urbana 06 is designed for Christian international students and scholars, and North Americans who are currently involved in friendship and ministry with internationals. The track will deepen your faith, sharpen your skills, and clarify God's calling on your life. You are called by God to make a difference!
At the Urbana 06 International Students Track we will:
- Live together in one hotel, giving us opportunities to network with other Christian internationals from our own countries and from all over the world
- Participate in practical seminars that motivate and equip us for action
- Meet in country-specific small groups for prayer and worship, allowing us to worship and pray for our own nations in our own languages
- Enjoy multi-cultural Bible study and worship that will draw us closer to the heart of God and deepen our faith and calling
- Particibate in all Urbana general sessions
As you register for Urbana 06, you will be given the opportunity to sign up for the International Students Track.
Scholarships are available
Decisions regarding scholarship allocation will be made by Staff and Staff Directors, who are best able to evaluate a student’s need for help, so please contact your Staff member.
National scholarships apply to convention registration fees and hotel costs, not to travel or other expenses. Normally no more than half of the convention fee and hotel cost is granted.
The applicant is expected to participate financially by:
- Paying a minimum of $100 toward the registration fee
- Actively pursuing other sources of financial aid
You will need to Email your request and Urbana ID along with your comments to your Staff member.
A Note About Fundraising for Scholarship Money
A group or committee may raise funds for students from their area. Please contact your Staff for details on this.
Refer-a-Friend
You are encouraged to invite your friends and family members to register for Urbana 06. The incentive is a $20 credit on your own registration when the person you invite completes a registration. In this way, you could actually ‘self-scholarship’ by recruiting enough friends to cover your entire registration fee.
Here's what participants have said about the convention and International Students Track in the past:
"Urbana helped me understand my place in God's purposes in the world."
"The multi-cultural Bible studies helped me to see Scripture from many perspectives and to apply it in my life."
"Worship was touching because this was the first opportunity for me to worship the King of Kings with so many people of other races and languages."
- Delegate from India"After Urbana and the International Students Track, one sole idea continues to cross my thoughts: to reply to the love of our Father by sacrificing my life for mission in my country and elsewhere."
- Delegate from Togo
The world will be different tomorrow because of the choices you make today.
