Theater at Urbana 06
Sometimes we need a new perspective in order to fully comprehend truth. That’s what the Theater Team brought to Urbana 06. Led by Artistic Director Patrick Sims, this diverse team of artists helped attendees understand and apply the message of Ephesians, and view God’s world and his people through fresh eyes.

All of the Theater presentations from Urbana 06 are available in streaming video on the webcast pages of each session.

Chorale of Reconciliation

COR was founded in 1999 by director Medad Ernest of Ernest Family Ministries.  It is comprised of 16 exciting young women and men, singers and musicians (rhythm and horn sections), that are passionate to bring the Gospel message of reconciliation between God and man and restoring fellowship amongst our fellow man.  And COR does it with explosive and energetic music, ranging from African American gospel music, to contemporary praise, to contemplative worship. This multicultural ensemble puts forth a unique sound, also drawing from a strong Caribbean heritage.  Their new album is called “Heartquake: Hope in God for this generation.”

The Chorale of Reconciliation performed and led a time of worship in a special evening session on December 29, 2006, focused on the subject of HIV/AIDS.

The Cross MovementThe Cross Movement

The Cross Movement, based in Philadelphia, PA, is comprised of four solo artists who share a common interest in communicating the Gospel message through hip-hop music.  They are John “The Tonic” Wells; William “Ambassador” Branch; Brady “Phanatik” Goodwin; and Virgil “T.R.U.-L.I.F.E.” Byrd, whose name summarizes one of his deepest convictions -- To Rightfully Understand the Lord Is Forever Existing.

The members of The Cross Movement were originally members of other Christian rap groups who ministered up and down the east coast in the early 1990s.  Their zeal for spreading the Gospel became their common thread, and in 1994, they formed The Cross Movement and Cross Movement Ministries to serve as an umbrella organization for their groups.  In the years to follow, God would knit the rap artists closer together and send them other ministry-minded men who used Hip-Hop as a tool for evangelism.

The Cross Movement performed and led a time of worship in a special evening session on December 29, 2006, focused on the subject of HIV/AIDS.

Unity Choir

Ever wondered what it would be like to lead 20,000 people in worship? The Urbana 06 Unity Choir go to find out - comprised of local singers from St. Louis, they led worship at the evening general session of Urbana 06 on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006.

"All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us."

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (NIV)
