Combatting Prayerlessness on Your Own Turf

Here are a few questions to help you assess your own prayer life and struggles with prayerlessness:

• Do you think it is necessary to set aside special times to pray? Why or why not?

• What rites of preparation for prayer do you use?

• What are the most common distractions to prayer that you struggle with?

• What strategies for dealing with distractions have you found most helpful?

• How much freedom do you feel to pray with your body?

• What sort of postures or gestures do you use?

• What sort of places draw you into prayer?

• How can these places become part of your regular discipline of prayer?
