Prayer Events for Groups
by Linda OlsonHost a Morning Prayer Breakfast
Make tickets with different countries or people groups on each. Include
pertinent information for each country or group on how to pray. In addition
to countries, use topics such as hunger, poverty, wars, international crisis,
abuse of creation, employment and housing for each ticket. Include a few vital
details under each topic on each ticket. When the individuals have all gathered,
have each table discuss what is on the tickets of each member while eating breakfast.
Have each table spend time praying for the needs represented on their tickets.
This is a great opportunity for including groups other than your own. It can be a great fundraiser for some special cause as well as educational for your members.
Hold a Lunch Fast
Once a month have a fast for lunch and, instead of eating, gather for prayer.
If possible, have members donate the money they would have spent on lunch to
some specific project. Organize a meaningful prayer time using the Lord's Watch
or another form of prayer. If you are a campus group, try walking around the
campus in pairs or threes and include praying for departments you pass and people
you see.
Daily Prayer Meetings
Try infusing a little global concern in your daily prayer meetings by reading
an international news clip and praying. Or devote one meeting a week to world
concerns and missions. Or better yet, make sure each meeting focuses on one
unreached people group and one global issue. Ask different members ahead of
time to share in this integration by coming prepared to share a need.
