Day One - August 3

Read: Genesis 1:1-3

Think Ask God to shine His light on your life. What does He reveal? What does God desire to create from the darkness and emptiness in your neighborhood? Ask Him to share His vision for your city with you. Write or draw what He shows you. Record it in your urbana.org MyJournal (free login required).

Respond: Praise the God who creates out of nothing. Pray about the things He's shown you during your reflection time.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Two – August 4

Read Exodus 20:1-3

Think Where has the LORD brought you? What "other gods" do you have? What shapes your relationships, work and life? What determines your values and controls your decisions? Imagine your life without those "other gods."

Respond: Ask the LORD to enable you to turn away from those "idols" and turn to Him alone as the determining force in your life. Worship Him!

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day 3 – August 5

Read Leviticus 26: 3-13

Think What commands have you noticed in Scripture recently? Ask the Lord to remind you of any commands He wants to bring to your attention. List the promises God gives in your urbana.org MyJournal. Imagine what your life would look like if He fulfilled those promises to you!

Respond: Praise God for who He reveals Himself to be. Ask God to fulfill these promises to His people in your city as you follow His Word.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day 4 – August 6

Read Numbers 17:1-11

Think Who do I grumble about? Why? What does God think about grumbling, especially against leaders? Imagine what you might do as an alternative to grumbling today.

Respond: Thank God for His desire and power to preserve us from death. Pray that the leaders in your church would be visibly approved by God. Pray that they will obey all that the LORD commands them. Pray specifically for someone you grumble against - that God would make them fruitful in their lives and work.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day 5 – August 7

Read Deuteronomy 30:4-6

Think How's your love level for God? Ask God to show you anything that needs to be cut out of your affections to make room for Him. Imagine God loving you with great intensity - what would that feel like? How might a daily awareness of that love change your outlook or behavior?

Respond: Praise God for the love He's shown you in your history with Him, and in this passage. Ask Him to cut off those things that keep you from fully experiencing His love and loving Him in return.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day 6 – August 8

Read Joshua 1:1-5

Think Where is God leading you? Ask Him to speak to you clearly about direction in an area of life that concerns you. Where is God leading your Church? Where is God leading your campus outreach? Ask Him to help you imagine the extent of what He intends to do in and through your Christian community.

Respond: Thank God for His faithfulness. Ask God to give everyone in your Church a common vision of His future for your city. Pray for strength and courage for one of the church leaders you know.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day 7 – August 9

Review Look over the past week: What prayers has God answered? Thank Him! Who have you seen God to be? Worship Him! What themes have emerged? Pray about them! What are you learning about prayer? Share it with someone!

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been give to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
