Day Fifteen - August 17

Read Isaiah 41:17-20

Think What are you thirsty for? What are you lacking in your life? Where do you feel needy? What needs do you see in those around you? In your church? In your city or on your campus?

Respond Praise God for His promises, His power and His purposes seen in Isaiah 41. Ask God to make those things happen in your life. In the life of your church. In your city or on your campus.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Sixteen - August 18

Read Jeremiah 14:20-22

Think What are you guilty of? What sins have you committed against God? What sins are you aware of in your family of origin or your family background? (Ask God to show you any true wrong-doing and to protect you during this reflection time from false guilt or any sense of condemnation that does not come from His Spirit of truth.)

Respond Use this passage to pray: Acknowledge your own sins and the sins of your family. Be specific. Acknowledge the truth about God in worship.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Seventeen – August 19

Read Ezekiel 36: 22-28

Think God is concerned not only with the sins of individuals, but with the sins of nations and peoples. Reflect on how God is made to look bad in your city, in your nation, and in the world by His own people. Write about it in your urbana.org MyJournal.

Respond Pray for the church in your city according to vs. 25-28. Pick one country by name (perhaps one you've visited, one you've heard of on the news or the country of someone you know). Pray for the church in that country according to vs. 25-28.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Eighteen – August 20

Read Daniel 1

Think What conflict do you have at work or in school that may be an opportunity for active faith? Imagine decisions of faith that you could make in that situation - how might others respond? What might God do to demonstrate His power?

Respond Ask God to show you what you need to do in that conflict situation. Ask God to show you favor and sympathy in those who have power in that conflict situation. Ask God to give you wisdom, knowledge and gifts to serve those in authority over you.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Nineteen – August 21

Read Joel 2:28-32

Think Imagine God pouring a big pitcher of water out on your city. What would that look and feel like? Imagine all the people of your city calling on the name of the LORD. What would that sound like? Imagine what might happen as a result. What does God in this passage say will happen when He pours out His Spirit? Imagine that. Write about it in your urbana.org MyJournal.

Respond Now ask for that.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty – August 22

Read Malachi 3:6-12

Think What is the relationship between money/material possessions and worship? What does God want to do for you and for all His people, according to these verses? What are you holding on to or withholding from the LORD that prevents you from getting closer to Him? Write about it in your urbana.org MyJournal. Imagine your life without that barrier.

Respond Honestly confess your withholding or your holding on. Release it to the LORD in prayer and in action. Ask Him to fulfill His promises in your life.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-One – August 23

Review Look over the past week: What prayers has God answered? Thank Him! Who have you seen God to be? Worship Him! What themes have emerged? Pray about them! What are you learning about prayer? Share it with someone!

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been give to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
