Day Twenty-Two - August 24

Read Matthew 5:1-16

Think Which one of the "Blessing" verses (3-11) stands out to you the most? Why do you think that is? Imagine all the believers in your city as candles in a dark room. What impact would we have on those in darkness around us? Record it in your urbana.org MyJournal (free login required).

Respond Ask our Father in heaven to bless His children in your city with these characteristics and these blessings. Ask your Father to show you how to shine your light to those around you today.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-Three – August 25

Read Mark 16

Think Imagine the possible responses of your family, friends, and co-workers if you told them about your personal encounters with Jesus. Imagine how those responses might be different if Jesus gave His disciples in your city the "signs" He gave His disciples in Mark 16.

Respond Worship the risen Lord Jesus. Ask God to give you one opportunity today to "preach the good news" of Jesus. Ask Him to give you what you need to demonstrate the truth of Jesus to those you speak to today.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-Four – August 26

Read Luke 2:21-38

Think What do you expect when you come together with God's people in a public place of worship? Imagine coming to church with the expectation of seeing long-awaited promises fulfilled. Write about it in your urbana.org MyJournal.

Respond Give thanks to God for what He's accomplished in Jesus. Ask God to give His people in your city expectancy when we gather together in prayer, like Simeon and Anna.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-Five – August 27

Read John 1:35-42

Think Imagine Jesus coming to your city. Who would you invite to go see Him?

Respond Thank Jesus for His presence in your life. Ask Him to help you hear and see Him better. Ask God to give you natural ways to invite others to "come and see" Jesus.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-Six – August 28

Read Acts 5:27-42

Think Imagine what could happen if you were this kind of witness to Jesus in your city: imagine the worst that could happen to you; imagine the response of others; imagine what God might do. Write about it in your urbana.org MyJournal.

Respond Worship God as He reveals Himself in this passage. Ask for the boldness to obey God rather than men today. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what to say and do today to bear witness to Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-Seven – August 29

Read Romans 5:1-5

Think Are you at peace with God through Jesus? Are you experiencing the results of peace with God described in this passage? Imagine God pouring out His love into the core of your being. Write about it in your urbana.org MyJournal.

Respond Thank God for what He has given you through Jesus. Thank God for what He has given you by the Holy Spirit. Ask God to show you how to pray in hope today.

Correspond: Share your thoughts and prayers in the discussion area (free login required).

Day Twenty-Eight – August 30

Review Look over the past week: What prayers has God answered? Thank Him! Who have you seen God to be? Worship Him! What themes have emerged? Pray about them! What are you learning about prayer? Share it with someone!

"All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us."

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (NIV)
