World Assembly
InterVarsity/USA and Inter-Varsity Canada are two member movements of a much larger body of student ministries around the world—the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
IFES is holding its triennial World Assembly this week and next. Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of Canada is host to 700 delegates from 150 countries. For the next two weeks, join us in prayer for the delegates, who are continuing the ongoing, and ever-so tender, work of building real relationships across national and ethnic boundaries, for the glory of God.
As members of the IFES, we have the joy of welcoming a few new student ministries into the fellowship. Since the 1940s, the ministry has grown from a few charter members to a truly global outreach, with national member movements participating in a unique way, as true partners in spirit.
This is no ordinary World Assembly for another reason: we're marking a transfer of leadership. After more than a decade of service, General Secretary Lindsey Brown, originally from Wales, will be handing the reins to Daniel Bourdanné of Chad. The North American InterVarsity movements thus have the honor of sitting at a table presided over by an African.

IFES is perhaps best introduced by a story. Becky Stephen of InterVarsity/USA shares the following: Deportation was only the Beginning
Finally, Lindsey Brown’s farewell gift is the book Shining Like Stars, in which he tells some of his favorite stories about God’s work among students around the world.
