Signs: Baseball

Why do you hate; why do you love baseball? What do you feel about it?

becca's Gravatar I like it... but not really for the sake of the game. It's something about celebrating the warm weather, and the smell of hot dogs and mowed grass, and happy kids... yeah.

Ben's Gravatar The shift in the U.S. from baseball to football reflects the culture. Football is an instant gratification sport; baseball requires patience and perseverance to enjoy. Not every play is an edge-of-your-seat thriller in baseball, and you have to follow a team through 162 games (in the majors) as opposed to <20. One loss can make a difference, but it's more of a speed bump than an insurmountable obstacle. You get up and play again the next day. The very factors that make baseball "boring" to some make it endearing to me. That, and all the stuff that comes with it (hot dogs, mowed grass, ability to have a conversation during the game...).
