Sacrificial Hands

A final thought from Elizabeth McElroy from HCJB World Radio (www.hcjb.org):

"Sacrifice . . .

Now there’s a word we don’t hear a great deal in our busy, convenient lives! Sacrifice, if misunderstood however, drives us away from its joys and rewards as we consider serving God. We think of men and women burning at the stake for their obedience, even of our Savior’s death for us, and we shrink back in selfish abandon never understanding its freedom. Having a passion for Global Authentic Missions calls for sacrifice. A sacrificing of MY dreams, MY plans, MY pre-conceived notions and ideas for what it means to serve God. This sacrifice says, “Take my life, my hands, my feet, my mouth and let them be, Consecrated Lord to thee”.  Sacrifice joins with Jim Elliot (The missionary martyr who lost his life in the late 1950's trying to reach the Auca Indians of Ecuador) and says, “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose". Freedom comes through sacrifice that calls for unclenched hands and reckless abandon to God alone saying humbly, “Here I am, Send Me”.  Believe me; He is quite capable of taking care of the rest!"

Risky Hands

I am obsessed with security and control - most people are. The world tells us that security is our right. We guard our quality of life and our future as if they were ours to protect.

Elizabeth McElroy (www.hcjb.org) continues to share with us about hands that risk all,  "David Bryant in In the Gap said the following, "Some are trapped in boxes of pea-sized Christianity, full of myths about missions that rob them of incentive to care about the unreached"

Don’t you just cry out and long at times to use your feet to step outside the box where you live in a comfort zone and take a risk to, Go Where No Man has ever gone before?

I remember when I stepped off of a little four seater plane in the jungles of Africa not too many years ago. This changed my life forever. I was trapped in a box surrounded by my pea-sized Christianity in some ways. BUT, I am here to tell you, God IS on the other side of the world also,  AND if you are in love with Jesus, you have what it takes to make a difference. I dare you to step out in faith and take a risk just for a couple of weeks. It may not be to the unreached, but for your own sake, use your hands, your feet, your voice, your life and experience just a TASTE of MISSIONS. Your life and those you touch will be impacted forever, it’s guaranteed. Go on, just one step will get you there."

Will you use those hands for God and trust him for your safety . . . your future . . . your success?
