Sacrificial Hands
A final thought from Elizabeth McElroy from HCJB World Radio (www.hcjb.org):
"Sacrifice . . .
Now there’s a word we don’t hear a great deal in our busy, convenient lives! Sacrifice, if misunderstood however, drives us away from its joys and rewards as we consider serving God. We think of men and women burning at the stake for their obedience, even of our Savior’s death for us, and we shrink back in selfish abandon never understanding its freedom. Having a passion for Global Authentic Missions calls for sacrifice. A sacrificing of MY dreams, MY plans, MY pre-conceived notions and ideas for what it means to serve God. This sacrifice says, “Take my life, my hands, my feet, my mouth and let them be, Consecrated Lord to thee”. Sacrifice joins with Jim Elliot (The missionary martyr who lost his life in the late 1950's trying to reach the Auca Indians of Ecuador) and says, “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose". Freedom comes through sacrifice that calls for unclenched hands and reckless abandon to God alone saying humbly, “Here I am, Send Me”. Believe me; He is quite capable of taking care of the rest!"
