Summary: This is a book written by and for Asian Americans. Each chapter addresses a different issue, as told by someone who has gone through it. The human tone is the strongest feature here: this is not a book on theology, but about people, how they feel, and how they’ve brought these feelings before God.
I loved this book. It is a good book for white people to read, to help them understand their Asian-American friends. Above all, my Asian-American friends have unanimously told me, it is a great, and much needed book for themselves and their peers.
As they touch on issues ranging from the Model Minority myth, and cultural definitions of the successful life, to sexual issues, to relations to African-Americans, the authors never lose sight of Jesus, their hope, and their salvation.
