Summary: Over the past sixty years God has used InterVarsity Christian Fellowship to shape the lives of thousands of students. It began with a very simple idea enunciated by its founder, C. Stacey Woods, who said, "The safest place on earth is the un-Christian university, if God sends you there." InterVarsity believed that students not only could survive but could thrive spiritually at secular colleges and that God's desire was for a living witness to flourish from within the university community.
This fascinating chronicle begins with the early influences that shaped university witness since its founding. Eventually these influences coalesced to form InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in the United States in the early 1940s. From those early beginnings with only a few staff covering the whole country and a world war breaking out, the work grew and flourished beyond human expectation.
