Jess Delegencia is passionate about translating the Gospel across cultures, and has a special interest in living this out in a Philippine context. He was born and spent his childhood in the Philippines, where the sacrifices and love of his pamilya (family), the privileges/struggles of poverty/wealth, and the prayers of his mother ultimately paved the way and inspired his love for missions, music, and travel. Jess is currently on staff with InterVarsity at U.C. Berkeley, where he has been on staff since 1996. He received his B.A. as an undergraduate in Third World Development Studies. Jess is also currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity from American Baptist Seminary of the West and a Masters in Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary's School of World Mission. In addition to his campus work for IVCF, Jess has also participated in and/or led missions trips to Oakland and Fresno, CA; Yucatan, Mexico and Manila, Philippines. At the moment, Jess is thinking a lot about the Philippines, poverty, hip-hop, the creative arts, social activism, and what Jesus thinks about all these things. He is also currently trying to get over his addiction to coffee, escaping to tropical beaches, and Thai food.
