Welcome to the 2002 Global Urban Trek. Throughout June and July we will be posting several updates each week to these pages, tracking seven Trek teams in cities all over the world.

 Wanting my personal space here makes me feel like a selfish American. My bed alone takes up more than a third of my family of seven’s living space, and for me to think of it as mine is just greedy. But in my heart I cringe when I see the children rolling around in my bed when they’re dirty or have rashes or head lice.
