ALL THAT GLITTERS : A News-Person Explores the World of Television
Cook, Colleen
Moody Press, 1992
267 pages

Cook gives readers an insider’s view of television. Now a freelance writer, Cook was once a television news anchor and producer. Her chapter titles include “How and Why the Camera Lies,” “Television Gone Tabloid,” “The Prime Time Thief,” and “Why Christ Came Before TV.” Cook’s insider experience can’t be ignored or negated, but her attitude toward the medium of television does give one pause. Much like many conservative Christians, Cook is heavy on criticism and light on positive suggestions. Although well-written and well-researched, the book doesn’t really offer the kind of creative and insightful suggestions needed for working with this powerful medium.
