The Swiss authors declare, “The premise of this publication is that, in order to reach unreached peoples of this world and re-evangelize the old Christian West, there needs to be a powerful unleashing of the dormant potential of Christian businesspeople” (p. 100). They deal with biblical foundations for work and some case studies from European mission history. Suter and Gmur are candid about tentmakers’ foibles, errors and contradictory thinking. Sometimes this book is difficult to read because of its crosscultural, multiethnic and multigenerational scope, and its brevity makes for oversimplification and dangerous generalizations in some topics. The authors provide several scriptural references and excellent footnotes. Overall, a good contribution to the literature on globalization of Christian witness in and through the workplace. |
