Sayers speaks forcefully and bluntly to those who would soften the claims of Christ, the Bible or the church’s credal declarations. To “it doesn’t matter what you believe, so long as you are sincere,” she responds with “Balderdash!” She contends that “the reason why churches are discredited today is not that they are too bigoted about theology, but that they have run away from theology” (p. vi). To reinforce the point, she includes the Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian creeds.
