MY FATHER'S BUSINESS : Guidelines for Ministry in the Marketplace
review by Pete Hammond
Peter Tsukahira
onestonebook.com, 2001
Paperback 174 pages

This is the personal story of one Asian-American’s journey toward spiritual maturity. Tsukahira worked in Tokyo and East Asia before emigrating to Israel with his Messianic Jewish spouse. Along the way he developed a career in technology and a growing commitment to be a “Kingdom Professional” in his terms. He builds his story around the text in Luke 2:49 where Jesus says, “I must be about my father’s business.” This story is very personal, individualistic and insightful, while unfortunately perpetuating the dualism of business and ministry being separate. He declares that he has a “dual track calling into ministry and business.” Although he advocates they are separate, Tsukahira has some insightful chapters on how individual Christians in business must develop kingdom values and practices.
