This book offers Christians a rationale for becoming actively involved in shaping and reshaping American culture, particularly in the areas of media and communications. It’s practical in that it outlines definite action steps Christians can take in areas such as the arts, television, film and journalism. Evangelical in focus, Briner assumes (1) American culture was at one time a Christian culture and (2) that a return to that state of affairs is a desirable goal. There is a basic naiveté to these assumptions that may put off a nonevangelical or a more sophisticated evangelical thinker, especially artists and writers. Thus the whole approach is questionable.
