TRANSFORMING PARISH MINISTRY
: The Changing Roles of Catholic Clergy, Laity, and Women Religious
This book offers a historical view of changes in the U.S. Roman Catholic Church between the years 1930 and 1980. There are four chapters, each an essay by one of the four authors. The heart of this book is three essays on the priest, the sister and the layperson. Each of these essays examines two major issues—the change that took place in the understanding and practice of ministry and how this altered the
priest/sister/layperson’s relationship with the parish. In part four Dolan attempts “to integrate the essays and some of their major points into a broader social context with a primary focus on the parish over the course of these fifty years” (p. viii). |
