Application and Candidacy Process
The application process is easy. Simply e-mail us at errc@errchina.com with your contact information and a brief self-description, and attach a copy of your resume. You can expect to receive a phone call from one of our staff members shortly thereafter. We will also e-mail you our application form. Complete it and send it in, along with a check for the $50 application processing fee.
Training Program
In addition, a two-week orientation prior to departure for China is provided in Oakland, California, during the month of August.
ERRC provides counseling throughout the year, an Orientation Manual and other reading materials early in the process. These give ERRC Field Partners a clear picture and understanding of what to expect while living and working in China.
ERRC also provides as much information as possible about the host institution. When necessary, ERRC communicates with the host institution on behalf of the Field Partners regarding any details concerning teaching and living in China.
Other services ERRC provides Field Partners before departure include processing visa applications and arranging international travel. Group medical insurance is also available.
Funding
All teachers going to China to teach should expect to raise support. Individual budgets are developed with help of ERRC staff to determine individual needs. For the first year, a single teacher may expect to raise around $7,000. Couples and families may expect to raise from $14-22,000. This includes cost of airfare, insurance, ERRC training, and other start-up costs.
