Vision
It is ELIC's goal to send qualified Christians to teach English and impact the lives of university students in China and East Asia through relationship-building. Over the last 25 years we have sent almost 9000 vibrant and passionate workers. Because of the in-depth training that we provide many of those who have effectively served with us had no previous teaching experience. Investing in our teachers is a hallmark of the ELIC family and several hundred of our teachers have earned tuition-free Master’s Degrees while serving with us in Asia. We are committed to sending people on teams, and our long-standing, good relationships with the host governments help to ensure a rich and fulfilling experience.

Training Program
One of the hallmarks of ELIC is the quality of training provided to all program participants. Teachers for our longer term programs (one or more years) begin their training in Colorado for one week and then proceed to Asia for further training before embarking on their teaching assignment. Asia training also includes a graduate level TEFL Certificate earned through Wheaton College worth up to 6 transferable graduate credits. Training covers cross-cultural adjustment, teaching, outreach, and team dynamics. In addition to the initial orientation and training, ELIC also provides ongoing instruction for their teachers throughout the year. Participants may also opt to participate in one of several tuition-subsidized MA programs that will provide further training.
Funding
Although ELIC sends teachers rather than missionaries, ELIC is structured like a traditional sending agency. ELIC teachers must raise support to meet additional costs beyond basic living expenses. Actual program costs are substantially higher than the amount ELIC teachers are required to raise. ELIC is able to offset these costs through significant donations from friends and foundations.
