Vision
The vision of Wycliffe Bible Translators USA is that God’s Word is accessible to all people in a language that speaks to their heart. We are focused on the 2500+ people groups around the globe that don’t have any portions of Scripture in their “mother tongue.” We believe that, working in partnership under God's direction, we can see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by 2025.

Qualifications for Applicants
Applicants for 1+ years should have a clear and growing relationship with the Lord and active in a local church. They should also be able to work in teams with those of different doctrinal, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. To begin application, student loans cannot exceed $24,000/single, $36,000/couple and unsecured debt cannot exceed $1,200. On a personal level, they must be free from tobacco and drug use and habitual use of alcohol and have a lifestyle that reflects a commitment to personal purity.
Applicants for volunteer or short term positions (below one year) do not have to meet all of these requirements. Talk to us to find out more about how you can plug in with your skills and circumstances.
Application and Candidacy Process
2+ year applicants start by talking with a recruiter and evaluating themselves against the qualifications above. If they're ready to move forward, the recruiter will then arrange a phone interview. An application and technical and medical evaluations will then be completed, along with a statement of doctrinal beliefs. The applicant's Pastor/Missions Committee chair is part of the evaluation and interview process with the applicant regarding their strengths and growth needs as potential missionaries. Once accepted, he/she must a attend a two-week orientation course which includes training in building a partnership team and preparing for an assignment.
Under one-year applicants start by talking with a recruiter and then completing an application, references and statement of faith. Once approved, the applicant will need to participate in orientation and training. Volunteers and short term participants need to be either self-funded or will need to build a team of partners.
Training Program
All training is delivered modularly as needed for the assignment. Translation, literacy and survey personnel receive specific language and biblical training available at a variety of schools across the US and several other countries. Managers, teachers, and other support roles receive training in transferring their skills to an overseas setting. All personnel leaving for an overseas assignment receive cross-cultural training beforehand and specific field orientation upon arrival.
Funding
Wycliffe missionaries are funded through the gifts of interested churches and individuals. All members receive training in building and maintaining a Partnership team.
