Questions about: Urbana

Kelvin: (10/26/00) Jack could you tell me if there is a specific dorm designated to spanish native speakers during the convention????

Jack: Thanks, Kelvin, for the question. No, there is no specific dorm designated for any language groups, however, if several Spanish speakers arrive together they may well be able to room together. On the other hand, there are several language and cultural specific situations:
  1. There will be a section of the auditorium set aside for Spanish speakers who will be able to receive simultaneous translation.
  2. There will be an Hispanic Student Lounge, hosted by Orlando Crespo, the National Latino Fellowship Coordinator and his wife, Maritza.
  3. There will be an International Student Lounge. At 1:30 pm each afternoon one of the IFES leaders will give a brief introduction of student work in a specific region. From 1:30 pm to 5 pm on Dec 18, 29, and 31, one can come and go anytime they wish. Central & South Americas & the Caribbean - Synder Main Floor Lounge 116.
  4. There will be seminars facilitated in Spanish.

When you get to Urbana, check the Convention Handbook for details.

Jack

(P.S. Look for me in the Spanish language section. I'd like to meet you!)
