| Janelle: (02/14/00) When I was reading the other questions on this page, it seemed like a lot of the others here felt called to missions for a number of years, since childhood even. I'm in my senior year of college, and before this past september, I'd never even considered going into missions. I've always been involved pretty heavily with a local church, and then with Intervarsity as well when I transferred colleges last year. I thought I knew what I was going to do after I graduated, I'd had it planned out for almost 5 years. I was going to go to graduate school, and then teach (math) at a community college. But all of that changed over summer and fall quarter. Basically, I suddenly felt pulled to Russia. After a lot of prayer I decided that I definitely want to go and serve there for at least one year. I don't know how to get there, though. I was told about a school near me that has a summer program in the russian language, and also about a short term trip to russia with Josh McDowell's ministry. Both of these sound like things that I would love to do, but they're at the same time, so obviously I can't do both. I'm a very poor decision maker, please pray for me that I'll be able to listen to God's direction for my near future. As graduation gets closer and closer more and more questions keep popping up. |
