Questions about: How can I use my major & skills?
Elizabeth: (02/22/05) I am interested in counseling overseas as well as in the US. I am pursuing grad. school in marriage and family therapy and was wondering which of these mission organizations that you have listed would be invovled in counseling/psychology/mental and emotional health of people overseas or even in the US (both if possible). Jack: Thanks, Elizabeth, for your question to "Ask Jack." However, a key element in your question is the phrase "which of these mission organizations..." I don't know what mission organizations you are referring to.

I would assume that all reputable mission organizations would be concerned about the emotional, psychological, and mental needs of their missionaries, though some would have better trained personnel in these areas than others. However, the best way to find out would be to ask them! I'm sure their representatives would be happy to explore with you how they deal with these issues. Most mission agencies can be found through Google.

I am sure that any mission agency would be greatly blessed by having someone of your training and experience as part of their staff.
