Questions about: Urbana

Sue: (10/11/06) Hi Jack, I have a friend that just returned from the mission field in Asia for 2 yrs. He has graduated from Yale and wants to continue doing missions work. He must decide to come to Urbana (has already been once before), or start looking for work, or wait for God's answer on what area of the world to work in. Would you recommend that he come to Urbana to get the direction and focus? Will the Lord answer him at Urbana? I have recommended that he come to Urbana because it is strategically a good resource place to inquire about lots of agencies and mission fields. He is torn on what direction God has for him. Can you shed some light to help us? Thank you, Sue Yamashiro

Jack: Thanks, Sue, for your concern for your friend. So many variables! - The fact that he/she has been to Urbana before should help him/her with this decision. - I would favor his/her attending the convention as part of a re-entry process, an opportunity to evaluate the experience of the 2 years in Asia. - I also think there is no other context like the convention to help your friend receive the direction and focus needed - in all aspects of that dynamic week, including the review of resources, as you mentioned.

I would support your suggestion, but all depends on your friend! Pray much for him/her in these days. Talk more to God than to him/her!

Jack
