| Questions about: How can I use my major & skills? |
| mat: (10/22/06) I am currently in high school and then I am going to university to study architecture and I was wondering if you knew of any agencies or groups that would use architects because I really want to use architectue for missions. |
| Jack: When I joined the Latin America Mission, I met Ladson Saylor who was both an architect as well as a seminary graduate. I don't know how many churches and other kinds of buildings he designed. Each mission agency will have to give you advice as to how they could use your gifts and talents.
As you move through university, keep in contact with mission agencies that impress you. Correspond with them, read their literature, and explore how they would use you. Relief and development organizations such as World Vision, World Relief, and Food for the Hungry, could possibly use your skills as they design and build buildings as part of their relief efforts. Keep asking, reading, thinking, and praying. You will be amazed at how the Lord will bring things together for you. Jack |
