| Maurice: (06/23/06) Hi Jack, I am running achristian ministry that supports needy orphans and widows, plus distribution of literatures. I need people from overseas who will want to partner with us and support our work monthly. We need a grant to help build our orphanage etc. could you please help us know which organisations give grants?

| Jack: Maurice, I know that there are foundations that give grants, particularly for one time gifts. Some offer “matching grants,” where they will give up to so much if the agency can match that amount through the gifts of interested individuals. But I don’t have names or any experience in this area.
From the correspondence that reaches my home, many agencies seek to raise money by direct mail, well prepared literature full of pictures and statistics that appeal to one’s heart. Other agencies have representatives visiting churches and any place they can find a hearing to present their cause. They develop mailing lists and keep people informed of their needs and progress. Perhaps it would be good for you to contact large, successful agencies like World Vision (www.wvi.org) , Childcare International (www.childcare-intl.org) or Every Child Ministries (www.kidsyes,org) (all of whom have orphanages in Africa) to find out how they raise the money they need.
