Questions about: Urbana
Maggie: (07/03/06) Hi I am will be going into my fourth year of college and before I came to college I was an introvert, but now that I am at college and and have lots of great and awesome Christian friends I am more outgoing and free to be myself. Though there are times that I need to be away from large groups (our IV chapter at U WI River Falls is about 100) I love to be with them. It's weird because they give me energy and I love to be around them but I also need time for quietness just to be silent and alone. What I am getting at is, do you think that Urbana is right for me? I also get easily distracted and overwhelmed when there are thousands of people in the same area. Your comments and thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated, thanks!! Maggie

Jack: Thanks, Maggie, for your honest question. Urbana 06 will bring together thousands of people, as you have observed! However, you will have the opportunity to be in a small group, and you can always find a corner to collect your thoughts in.

The convention only lasts less than a week. It won’t be like a silent retreat, but it will offer you things that you might not find anywhere else:

- The unique joy of being with thousands of college students who love God and are excited about His work in the world.

- An opportunity to learn from speakers who combine knowledge with experience.

- A chance to focus on areas that interest you and consider how the Lord might want you to serve Him, with the opportunity of meeting hundreds of agencies who offer an opportunity to be involved in mission.

- A combination of Biblical study with intellectual stimulus.

Is it right for you? The only way you can decide is to determine why you are going. What do you hope to find there? learn there? Ask the Lord about these things. He’ll tell you. And if you decide to go, pray much about preparing yourself to receive a Word from Him, Word very relevant for your situation right now.
