Questions about: Guidance

Calvin: (01/26/07) I am an international student studying in the US. Intervarsity is organizing a 6 week mission trip to China for this coming summer. Well, i felt that the Lord wanted me to go for this mission but in order to that, i would have to sacrifice an internship if i am successful for the interview. So after much praying, i finally decided that i would go to China and just lay down the internship. But funny thing is, right after my decision, i received 4 invitations to interviews. I mean i don't exactly understand what God's plan is for me, is this like a test, cause certainly it is tempting to me if i get the internship because getting a job in US after graduation would be easier with an internship. So am a little confuse here, please help me.

Jack: A tough decision, Calvin. Some suggestions: - The Lord knows your situation, the present, and the future, and what would be best for your long term relationship with Him and His plans for your future. - You might like to spend a day in prayer, reading Scripture, putting the situation before Him, and asking Him either to confirm your original decision or make a change. - After your prayer time, you might like to call each of the 4 and ask for a date change in the interview to accomodate both options, explaining the problem.

We never like these experiences, but they are opportunities to seek the Lord with an intensity beyond the normal, and draw us closer to Him.
