Books: 1) Look up "Paul Borthwick" on Amazon.com. He has several books on missions. They are not heavy nor long but pithy and very instructive. I know Paul personally and recommend them highly. 2) If your church library has a copy of Ruth Tucker's From Jerusalem to Iryan Jaya, borrow it. It is a wonderful biographical history of Christian missions from the days of the Apostles to the present time. I'm sure you student will love it. 3) Samuel Escobar. The New Global Mission: The Gospel from Everywhere to Everyone (Christian Doctrine in Global Perspective) (InterVarsity Press). I also know Samuel personally. He is Peruvian, but writes English very well, and has lived a lifetime in thinking about and doing mission. A little heavier than Borthwick's works, but well worth reading.

Videos I'm sure that your local Christian book store would have a selection of mission videos, incuding biographies. I'm just not familiar with them. However, InterVarsity has resources, especially ones they have made for the Urbana Student Mission Convention. I asked one of my friends who works at InterVarsity to list them for me. You could take a look at these and see if you find something interesting. Most of these collections have very short (3 to 5 minutes) presentations, but which are good for stimulating discussion.

Hands On As for the Hands On part. You could look up www.shorttermmissions.com and arrange a mission trip. Or, talk to your pastor about local mission opportunities.
