Questions about: Money and Missions

steven: (10/18/08) hello I have a question. I recently started a radio based ministry for the youth (high school and college). with a focus on outreach to the secular community. Our main goal is to share jesus' love. We play hip-hop, rap, alternative rock, and indy rock. I am looking for some type of domestic missions support. Could you please guide me in the right direction. Thank you for your time.

Jack: Steven: Thanks for your question regarding finding domestic missions support. I point you to one resource that you might find helpful. Bill Dillon has been helping Christian workers raise money for many years. - Note his website on fund raising http://www.peopleraising.com/ask.cfm - On the website he makes reference to his book, People Raising. A Practical Guide to Raising Support. Chicago: Moody Press, 1993. On Amazon you can get it new or used from $4.00.

I like Dillon’s book because he looks at “fund raising” as more of a spiritual adventure than just a Madison Avenue approach to techniques. He starts from the supposition that it is God who really provides for His work.

Thus, as you seek to incorporate friends, churches, Christian groups, and others in support of your ministry you get more than money; you get their interest and their prayers. This is not an easy adventure, but it is an opportunity for the Lord to reaffirm His call to you for this ministry. Remember Hudson Taylor’s famous phrase: “God’s work, done in God’s way, receives God’s supply.”

May the Lord guide you, Steven, as you call upon Him and reach out to future partners for your radio ministry.

Jack
