Leigh: (12/24/08) Response to Rajeev Nandakumaran
I realize it's been a while since this was written, but I still feel that it is a worthwhile discussion.
I will agree that the Church in America is in an interesting state, to say the least. From I noticed, one big cause of our problems seems to be that many American Christians are simply not aware of the problems in the rest of the world, physical and spiritual.
I will agree with you, Jack, in that most Americans are comfortable. We don't like it when anything bursts our comfort bubble.
Sadly, I think that our church is in a society that has largely turned from God. In a nation where we permit sins like gay marriage and abortion, and spending enough money on Christmas alone to provide clean drinking water for the world 45 times over, it is no small surprise that we see false teachers entering our churches.
It is so sad to see what America is turning into. Our country has been more blessed than most nations in history, which I believe is because the Puritans who came here long ago made a covenant with God, and who envisioned a government that was founded on Christian principles.
Thank you for voicing your concern, Rajeev. I do agree with Jack, that, despite the sad state of many of our churches and Christians, there are still those in America who love and serve the Lord. Still, please continue to pray for this nation that I care so much about, and please pray for me, that God will give me the strength to be a light to many, here or where ever He may take me.
God bless!
