| Elizabeth: (12/05/08) Hi, Jack! A year or so ago you answered my question here http://www.urbana.org/ns.aj.showall.cfm?RecordId=1784&Category=What%20is%20a%20Calling%3F about how I felt I had had a supernatural experience prompting me towards a certain people group in a particular part of the world, but I was still questioning it.
I probably neglected to thank you at the time, so here is the long overdue THANKS plus I want to let you know how the situation turned out. Well, God has been showing me so much over the past few years! I realized that I had lived in a lot of fear of the idea of missions because I thought it sounded pretentious and like I would have to be perfect: I felt really inadequate and unworthy. It was especially difficult because no one else in my family has ever done anything of the sort and I was afraid of what they would think of me (they might think I thought I was superspiritual or something!) Thankfully, he has corrected a lot of that wrong thinking. He actually uses us best when we're weak and we have little to offer but our willingness to be filled with HIS power!
My passion has grown, and it has helped that my friends, parents, and teachers have all been very supportive in the process. I have also really benefited from the kindness and encouragement of an older couple who I know who worked in a similar context for many years. They have inspired me even more towards it all, plus God has really used them to speak positively into my life and encourage me.
So, I will be graduating from college soon and have immediate plans to head out ... I am so excited and feel very much that God has been affirming that this is the right thing for me to do at least for now. I guess 100% beyond-a-doubt certainty is probably never possible, but as far as I can tell it seems to be the right course of action. And I trust God to guide and redirect.
