| Questions about: Getting involved in missions |
| Alana: (04/07/08) well, I have a heart for China and I was told that I am to become a full-time missionary to China. But I'm only 14-years-old.I was also told that I was going to get in through being a scientist. I would just like to ask if you know any helpful information that could encourage me or help me.
Alana |
| Jack: Well, Alana, nothing wrong by starting early! However, I would continue your reading on China and try to get in touch with people who live and work there.
I think you might do better thinking about teaching English in China, for the following reason: If you want to be a scientist, you will have to spend most of your time not only teaching but also researching. Science is growing continually and a scientist has great difficulties keeping up. In contrast, if you teach English, as a native speaker, you are the expert, and it gives you a lot of opportunity to get to know students and English teachers and be able to talk to them about spiritual things.
Meanwhile, learn how to get to know people around you, how to share the Gospel, and how to grow in your knowledge of God. These are skills you can use anywhere. Jack |
