Questions about: Guidance

Aimee: (05/01/08) I happened to be searching through an Urbana email and found the Ask Jack category for career opportunities and missions. I grew up my entire life as a missionary kid in Taiwan. I currently work as a teacher in North Carolina having recently graduated as a bachelor's in elementary education.

Most mission agencies are interested in finding teachers for MK schools or teacher's willing to teach English in China, but despite growing up in an MK school and living near China, that's not where my interest lies at the moment.

What other opportunities would there be worldwide - no particular country? And of even more interest to me is my pursuit of a degree (unsure whether certification, bachelor's, or master's yet) in Nutrition and Exercise Science.

How would that be useful!? Thanks so much for your time and careful thought in answering questions!

Jack: Aimee, I would encourage you to take a look at these two search engines:

1) Right Now http://www.rightnow.org/worldConnection.aspx

2) Mission finder: http://www.missionfinder.org/ See if you can find something that would interest you.

However, I am curious that since you grew up in Taiwan, and thus undoubtedly speak Mandarin (or Taiwanese), have you never felt nudged to consider ministry there?

At any rate, may the Lord guide you as you ask Him to open door and brings interesting opportunities to your attention.

Jack
