Send Me! Your Journal to the Nations
Steve
Hoke Growing up as a missionary kid in Tokyo, Japan, I very early committed to lifelong involvement in world evangelization. I wanted to be a part of what God was doing around the world! It just took me a while to find the niche God had carved out for me. Through college, several church ministries, and grad school, I realized my gifting was not as an evangelist, but as an encourager and teacher. In serving as a missions prof and director of campus ministries at Seattle Pacific University, director of field training for World Vision International, president of LIFE Ministries (Japan), and presently as vice president of training of Church Resource Ministries (CRM), my gift mix has been confirmed. Im a Barnabas, not a barnstorming church planter like Paul. In my present role, I help mobilize, train, and encourage inter-national teams for ministry around the world. I visit over a dozen churches each year to advise and encourage them in their mission ministry, and I mentor several young missions pastors. I also work with groups like ACMC (Advancing Churches in Missions Commitment) to equip churches nationwide in global ministries. My passion in the years ahead is to help raise up the next generation of mission leaders from churches across North America and the world, and to see that they are effective in their roles as intercultural servant-leaders. Ive been married to Eloise since 1972. Our daughter Stephenie is in college, and our son Chris is a senior in high school. Weve lived in southern California since 1985. Bill Taylor Im a Third Culture Person who was born in Costa Rica, and lived 30 years in Latin America. My parents moved to the U.S. for my last year of high school. I returned with my artist wife, Yvonne, to work in Central America after too many years of college and seminary study! A Ph.D. in Latin American studies from the University of Texas, Austin, came later. A former Texas staff of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, I served 17 years with CAM International in leader-ship development at the Seminario Teológico Centro-americano in Guatemala. Yvonne and I were also on a church planting team in Guatemala for a church supporting us today as one of their international missionary families. Based in Austin, Texas, I serve the global missions force through WEF in missiological concerns, developing national missionary movements, missionary training, strategic research, and publications. Married for 32 years, Yvonne and I have served all these years in cross-cultural missions. Hope Chapel is our Austin church. Our three twenty-something kids (two single, one married) were all born during our years in Guatemala. My passions: to finish well and to do all I can to pack heaven with worshipers.
