Faith Journey
Father, Forgive Us for:
acquiring without giving,
chasing wealth and neglecting the poor,
craving comfort and forsaking suffering,
criticizing others more than affirming them,
dreaming of peace without doing the work of peacemaking,
exalting our ethnicity over others,
focusing on our security instead of sacrifice,
gathering for worship, neglecting scattering for service,
judging others instead of blessing them,
preaching growth while resisting change,
pursuing control in place of submission,
seeking victory rather than reconciliation,
talking more than listening,
working for ourselves without worshiping you.
“…let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of the body and of spirit,
making holiness perfect in the fear of God…
Now I rejoice because your grief led to repentance,
for you felt a godly grief…
[which] produces a repentance that leads to salvation
and brings no regret…”
(Paul in 2 Corinthians 7:1, 9-10)
Lord, help us to know our sin, repent,
escape its hold on us, taste your forgiveness,
and become more like you!
