Doorways to Faith

People enter faith through a wide variety of experiences:

nurturing by their birth family, relatives or a childhood church,
a crisis in health, relationships or work,
a personal moral breakdown, addiction or failure,
the birth of a child and concerns about spiritual formation,
the example of the faith of a friend, companion, co-worker,
getting past a difficult religious upbringing,
a consuming loneliness or deep personal disappointment,
a growing dissatisfaction with other religions,
a major crossroad or change in life,
involvement in a faith-based humanitarian activity,
marriage to a committed believer.

By whatever means, God welcomes us, saying,
"Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;
You who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price,
Why do you spend money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
Incline your ear, and come to me; listen so that you may live,
I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for [you]."

Lord, help me to see and engage
people in my world of relationships who might be at a doorway.
Help me get to know my regular acquaintances better.
Equip me to share my story of faith development appropriately,
Use me as a door opener to faith for others.
