Faith Journey
Others
are wonderfully and mysteriously made in God's image,
belong to extended and diverse families,
carry deep wounds and hurts,
are not my enemies,
also have dreams, aspirations and hopes,
have gifts and skills that can enrich me, God's people and the world,
have life stories that deserve to be heard,
have shadow sides too,
long for friends, significance, safety and health,
need love and acceptance,
should have the right to establish their own identity and reputation,
struggle with fear, sin, pain and failure,
and matter to God as much as I do!
"When you pray, do not heap up empty phrases. Pray then this way: 'Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us' for if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. The greatest among you shall be your servant. All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted. But woe to you for you lock people out of the kingdom of heaven." (Jesus in Matthew 6:7-14; 23:11-14)
Lord, help me to see each person as a child of yours, and treat every encounter as an opportunity from you to serve another.
