Faith Journey
Please Go!
Like My Son Jesus:
from everything he had a right to,
into sacrificial service seeking his lost sheep,
and inevitable rejection, condemnation and execution.
(God, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, 60-80 AD)
and
Like My Son's Followers:
Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus to far away Egypt.
Jesus apart from Mom and Dad.
away from his rural home across the nation.
Disciples away from family business to persecution.
Jesus into the city face-to-face with those plotting to kill him.
Peter into the dining room of an enemy pig-meat eater.
Ananias to befriend and support notorious Christian-killer Saul.
Phillip away from desert success to a desert encounter.
Barnabus to oppose his leader and advocate for rejected John Mark.
Priscilla and Aquila from one city to the next to launch churches.
Apollos from educated fame to embarrassed student of faith.
Timothy from his secure home to a conflicted new church.
Titus to the dangerous isle of Crete to pastor the raw new believers.
Philemon into adopting a criminal, risking social embarrassment and rejection.
Onesimus from Roman safety to possible execution in Colossae.
Persecuted believers into diaspora.
Ancient John into exile!
(God, Matthew to Revelation, 60-100 AD)
Lord, thank you for the treasure of these lives in scripture.
Guide me on my faith journey through their stories,
and help me build on their service to you and the world around me.
