So, who am I?
I am a budding artist, an adventurous traveler, a justice-oriented advocate,
and someone who really believes that we can change the world!
To unpack this a bit, let me first say that currently, I am an associate
producer with InterVarsity's 2100 Productions. Some of the pieces I've
produced are: "Real Christianity" (for Urbana 2000); "ATLANTA
2002 Promo" (for I.V.'s National Black Student Conference); and "The
Gospel in the African-American Experience" (Black history piece
for ATLANTA 2002 conference). Before coming to 2100, I was a campus staff
at
Tennessee State University. I've been with InterVarsity for 8 years.
The artist side of me also loves to write and currently, I'm working on
a screenplay.
I've traveled through two-thirds of the United States, and have also
either traveled through or lived in the following countries: Kenya; Tanzania;
Uganda; Senegal; Guinee-Bissau; Niger; South Africa; England; Mexico;
Guatemala;
Canada; Bahamas. So somebody say, "Travel!"
I have a passion for advocacy and promotion of peoples' rights to equity,
justice, and self-determination, be it African-American or Native American
affairs at home or other peoples' affairs abroad. So for me personally,
this summer's Global Urban Trek to Cairo is a natural next extension of
God's work and leading in my life. My hope and desire in leading this Trek
is to bring along like-minded souls who are willing to be used by God to
add more of His Kingdom to this area in Egypt.
My background includes a B.A. in Mass Communications/Journalism from Clark
College (now Clark Atlanta University) in Atlanta, GA; and a M.A. in African
Area Studies/Motion Picture Television from UCLA.
Some of the places I've worked include: the All Africa Conference of
Churches in Nairobi, Kenya; Church World Service in Dakar, Senegal; Spelman
College
in Atlanta, GA; Catholic Relief Services in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
In fact, while working in Tanzania, I sensed a "call" to full-time
Christian work and that's when I came on staff with InterVarsity.
When you first meet me, I'm sort of quiet and sometimes shy. After you
get to know me, I'm still quiet! But oh, do I love to laugh. So if you're
the life of the party, then I will definitely be at that party!
