Heidi grew up and attended college in eastern Washington state (little places called Otis Orchards, Greenacres and Walla Walla) before venturing south-west-ward across the Cascade Mountains. In August 2001 she ended up in Salem, Oregon, where she endured 56 straight days of rain and prayed that God would send her someplace warm and sunny. In January 2003 she moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she is the Global Projects Coordinator for IV (translation: she makes things happen). It was here she discovered that her favorite clothing style, wearing a dress over pants, is practical not only for elementary-school monkeybars but sub-zero temperatures as well. She continues to pray God will send her someplace warm and sunny.
In addition to two urban projects during college, Heidi has spent the previous two summers in Calcutta, India and Nairobi, Kenya on the Global Urban Trek. She feels a strong desire to bring the fullness of the Gospel to places that seem dark and hopeless and see God transform them into communities of His Kingdom. Eventually Heidi would like to spend a significant portion of her life overseas, but in the meantime she enjoys taking short term trips with college students (this could be you!) whom she prays will be called to radical lives serving the poorest and least evangelized people in the world. Other things that bring joy to her life include tea, poetry, ultimate Frisbee and exploring (anything).
