Precious Lord - Worship Songs from the African-American Church Tradition

God has been challenging us in InterVarsity to grow in love for people of every ethnicity and culture. He's also been calling us to participate with him in creating communities of reconciled diversity. This recording of music from the African-American church tradition has been made as one aid in these pursuits.

We pray that utilizing these songs will inspire relationships in your fellowship or congregation by giving non-Black people appreciation for African-American culture and by helping Black people to feel more at home in authentically multiethnic worship times.

Historical notes: Knowing the evolution of Black Gospel music will equip and enrich you as a worship leader or worshipper and increase your appreciation of its impact on our world. Also look here for examples of contemporary Black Gospel artists and resources.
