A
Monthly Prayer Bulletin for
InterVarsity’s 20th Student Mission
Convention
July 2003
With less than 6 months to go until 20,000 students flood the University
of Illinois for the 20th Urbana Convention, please join us in praying
for God’s purposes to be accomplished in these days, in each of
our lives, and in this generation:
- “Your Kingdom Come” (Matt. 6:10) Pray for the Kingly
reign of God to come to earth as it is in heaven. As we acknowledge God
as King in our lives, ask Him to reign over each facet of the Urbana
Convention. Pray that those preparing it may know God as King over their
responsibilities, over the Convention, over this generation of students
and over the world itself. Pray for students’ relationship with
God as King and Lord. Ask that their eyes be opened wide to the Kingdom
of God in Scripture and in their midst. Pray for this generation to stand
up in their calling to be citizens in and bearers of God’s Kingdom
to the world.
- “Your Will Be Done” (Matt. 6:10) Ask God to accomplish
all that he wants through this Urbana. Pray for the students who are
considering whether or not to come to the Convention. Ask God to draw
each person He wants. Pray for the Missionary exhibitors, Seminar leaders,
and platform presenters. Ask God to lead them in their preparations to
bring the Word He wants to speak to delegates. Ask God to move in and
through delegates to do what He wills in the world — to heal
people and nations, to bring the message of the Gospel and the Kingdom
to all
peoples, to restore justice and bring an end to oppression, to care
for widows and orphans, and to reveal the Glory of Jesus to the whole
world.
- “My prayer for all of them
is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father-that
just as you are in me and I am in you,
so they will be in us, and the world will believe that you sent me.” (John
17:21) Pray this prayer of Jesus’ for each of the teams coming
together to work on Urbana. Ask God to work across geographical distances,
through ethnic diversity, through unique leadership styles, and through
the vast differences in personalities and experiences to bring glory
to His name by building unified teams of people who love God and serve
Him together. Pray for their relationships with Him and with each other.
Pray for their productivity and creativity in approaching their call
in the Convention. Ask God to guard these teams from the hand of the
Evil one.
